Hamsterboy | 28 July, 2010 11:23

Palit, together with local partner and distributor PC Trends, held a launch party at Oasis Pavilion to formally introduce the latest addition to the rapidly growing GeForce GTX 400 family, the Palit GTX 460.

Attendees were forum members of TipidPC.com, a local community of computer enthusiasts. Also included in the guest list are representatives from Palit and NVIDIA who flew in just for the event.

Mr. Ngee Seng Yeo, Regional Channel Marketing Manager for NVIDIA

The GTX 460 is the latest addition to NVIDIA’s stable of DirectX 11 ready graphics cards. It sports a modified Fermi architecture which capitalizes on the success of the initial Fermi salvo and brings the power over tessellation down to a much more affordable price point, offering mainstream PC users a product with great bang for the buck.

For their part Palit is offering three variations of the GTX 460, each incorporating the company’s distinct graphics card design to provide gamers and enthusiasts alike with just the right performance at the right price point. The first of which is the standard Palit GeForce GTX 460 768MB. Higher up on the ladder is the Palit GeForce GTX 460 1GB Sonic Edition, featuring Palit’s trademark Sonic Overclocking technology to bring out the potential of the new GTX 460’s GPU. Lastly, the top offering for the GTX 460 line is the Palit GeForce GTX 460 1GB Sonic Platinum which offers 17.5% faster performance over the GPU’s default speed.

With all the gathered gamers and enthusiasts, an overclocking presentation was nigh inevitable. TipidPC overclocker ‘bart’ with a few of his friends set up a system on site to attempt to overclock a Palit GeForce GTX 460 in which they were very successful. From the stock core clock of 700MHz, they were able to achieve a stable overclock of the Palit GeForce GTX 460, settling in at a core clock of 900MHz.

Also present at the event was Western Digital, who had set-up a booth showcasing their slew of hard drives, in particular the new Velociraptor 600GB. The drive had been incorporated into a gaming rig on site and allowed attendees a experience first hand the difference of having a high speed Western Digital hard drive with regards to gaming experience.

Through out the event, Palit and PC Trends raffled off more than a few items to lucky forumers including Palit bags, solar chargers, and, of course, three units of the new Palit GeForce GTX 460. So sought after were the graphics cards that even the site owners turned co-hosts were also hoping to go home with one.

After the presentations and the raffles, the audience was treated to a racing performance by the girl group Girlz Ink.

The new Palit GeForce GTX 460 graphics cards will be made available by the end of the month and is exclusively distributed by PC Trends. With that we would like to congratulate and extend our thanks PC Trends and Palit for inviting us to this event.
